2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs, like parsley, sage, rosemary or thyme, plus more for garnish
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 (12-ounce) NY strip steak
Instructions
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and herbs and sauté, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 4 to 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, season steak generously with salt and pepper. Heat remaining 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak on all sides and cook to desired doneness. For a medium-well steak cook until an internal temperature of 145°F is reached, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Remove steak from pan and let rest for at least 3 minutes. Slice and top with mushrooms. Garnish with additional parsley and serve.
